Socrates – Σωκράτης (*469 ✝︎399 BC) was an ancient Greek philosopher from Athens.He significantly influenced philosophy, although he himself did not write any texts. His teachings were passed down by his student, Plato. Socrates emphasized the importance of dialogic thinking and self-knowledge. Through targeted questioning, he guided his students toward truth. He encouraged the critical examination of knowledge and sought the foundations of ethical behavior. Despite being considered a heretic, Socrates influenced numerous philosophers and laid the groundwork for Western philosophy.
